Win five for the season already............

The 2017/18 Victorian Racing Season is not even 10 weeks old yet and Team Feek has hit the ground running with a 16% wining strike rate and 5 winners from just 26 runners. Now is as good a time as any to look towards expansion and what better way to do that than at the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2yo In Training and Spring Racehorse Sale commencing from October 10. David Feek heads to the Gold Coast this week looking to secure the next stable star and this sale presents a wonderful opportunity to do so at a time of the year when so much attention is on the Spring Carnival.

The sale mainly comprises of un-raced two year olds that have been prepared specifically as "ready to run". They have all "breezed up" to demonstrate their ability to perform and are therefore ready to go on with but untried. There is also a book of older tried horses selling Wednesday afternoon which we will inspect for horses with unrealised potential and attractive pedigrees.

‘It’s a strong catalogue of 2yo's this year and the market at this type of sale has been tough buying over recent years’ Said David as he perused the catalogue from his Mornington base.

‘You have to keep an open mind when attending these sales. We would love to bring one home with us, however if it’s not what we want then we’ll come home empty handed’.

‘Coral and I are looking to expand the operation and it’s important we build a team of quality horses.’

A recent move to first class on-course stabling facilities situated at the rear of Mornington racecourse has provided the Feeks with another string to their bow, with the complex purpose built to accommodate a growing team.

‘We purchased a property just 100m or so from where the horses come on and off the track each morning and it’s ideal for what we are trying to achieve’.  Said David.

‘We have everything you need on-site and the location enables us to do so much with our runners on and off the track.’

What’s remarkable is that Feek Racing’s 5 winners so far this season have come from just 8 individual runners. Señor Alf, Zoffany Rose, Mercury Rocks and Alberts Lass are all winners for team Feek in 2017-18 and a quick look at their age gives a fair indication of exactly where the team is at. All four horses are just 4 years of age and represent the first crop of horses to race under the Feek Racing operation since its inception a few years ago.

‘We have made good progress in each of the seasons since we set up our own training operation and I am confident we will continue to build momentum and go from strength to strength’. Said David.

’The horses are running well and we have created the team off a low base. Coral and I are looking forward to continuing to build on our quality of stock and the results will hopefully follow’.

Please let Team Feek know if you would be interested in getting involved in any purchases. Alternatively, If anyone is on the Gold Coast this week and is keen to come and inspect some 2yo’s please call David to arrange some time. David can contacted on 0403 883 377.
