Team Feek saddles up just the one runner at Tuesday's meeting at home with the in-form staying mare Zoffany Rose lining up in Race 6 over 2450m at Mornington. Regular rider Jessica Eaton claims 2kg off the allocated 58.5kg and with the weight relief and home track advantage the 4yo daughter of Zoffany should prove highly competitive in the Benchmark 58.
A slow maturer, as trainer David Feek would best describe her, Zoffany Rose has struck a real purple patch of form. After taking 11 runs to break through the mare has produced two wins and two placings from her last five starts, with the other run an unlucky fourth at Pakenham at her last start almost a month ago.
'She was an inexpensive yearling in terms of what the market is like nowadays and she just taking a bit of time to mature an furnish in to a racehorse' Said David Feek from the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast.
'She hasn't had a lot of luck and she travels so well for Jess (Jessica Eaton). Tuesday's race looks ideal for her to put another win on the board and her only other 2400m run was a nose second at Bendigo a few starts ago'.
'She'll go in to to Tuesday fit and with a nice little freshen between runs. Her best would be highly competitve in this race even though it looks a typically open 58'.
Zoffany Rose was selected and purchased by David at the 2015 Inglis Sale and with two wins and three minor placings already she'll be looking to build on that when she lines up for her 16th career start on Tuesday.
