After 8 runners (and trialers) in a week Feek Racing quickly turns their attention to the 2017 NZ Ready to Run Sales held at Karaka, just 30 minutes south of Auckland, this week. With just a few days to spare before the Feek Racing team wind up on the track again next week, David heads across the Tasman tomorrow night to test the market at the internationally renowned ready to run sale.

The most successful Sale of its kind in Australasia, NZB’s Ready to Run Sale has celebrated 110 stakes wins in the past five seasons alone, with sale graduates having won 19 Group 1 races during the same period. Three of those Group 1 victories came during the 2016-17 season with star representative and dual Group 1 winner Gingernuts triumphing on both sides of the Tasman and fellow stablemate Hall of Fame scoring a Group 1 feature. Further afield, Singapore winners last season were headed by 3YO Sprint and 3YO Classic winner Countofmontecristo along with Patron’s Bowl and Stewards’ Cup winner Alibi. The statistics have been bolstered further with this seasons Group 1 victory in the Windsor Park Plate by Gingernuts, the Group 1 Wakeful Stakes by Luvaluva, and the Garden City Trophy and Jumbo Jet Trophy by Faaltless and Countofmontecristo.

'We have enjoyed some early success with our yearling, tried and ready to run purchases, so I want to head over there and take a closer look at what they have to offer. I don't mind if we come home empty handed, it's about finding the right horse for the right price'. Said David Feek

'A couple of clients have expressed some interest in the catalogue so its important I get on the ground and see what type of horses are being presented'.

With seven winners at and 18% strike rate already this season Team Feek are hoping to add to their arsenal of young horses coming through the ranks.

'We have got some really nice young horses on the ground and a few of our first crop of purchases are racing consistently for us. I would love to find a nice type that could get us to the races in the autumn'.

The sale commences Wednesday 22 November for two days with 437 well-trained two-year-olds catalogued and a determined David Feek looking to bring home the next chapter for Feek Racing.
