There was plenty of pre-sale 'buzz' around this year's edition of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run sale of two-year-olds that kicked off at Karaka on Wednesday and it didn't take long for the action to explode in the auction ring. After some big buying by local and international buyers David Feek didn't take too long to secure his first purchase. Lot 93, a lovely filly brown filly by Nadeem, caught the eye early during the inspections and when she was knocked down for just $25,000 NZD David couldn't believe his luck.
'I was a little surprised to be honest, I thought she was worth at least twice that. She's a big strong filly that is well put together and is lovely and balanced on her feet. She stands over good ground and is a beautiful walker'. Said a thrilled David Feek from Karaka.
'Being a filly was advantageous as there is a lot of money from Asia here and they are all looking for the colts and geldings. I think we have bought her well under what she could've have gone for'
'Nadeem has been more than satisfactory as a stallion and I can't wait to get her home and in to the Feek Racing system'.
The daughter of Nadeem is a half sister to a Stakes winning filly in New Zealand who has won from 1200m - 2100m. She is closely related to the multiple black type winner MIGHTY LUCKY and comes from the same family as CHANCE BYE.
'I bought her for a group of clients who are hopefully going to have some fun with her. If we could secure some black type for her page then she becomes a commercially viable broodmare after racing'.
'We'll just get her home to Mornington and work out how she settles in and what she is telling us in terms of the Autumn'. Said Feek.
