Feek Racing saddle up two runners at Moonee Valley on Friday night with ZOFFANY ROSE and TIZSO WICKED both engaged. Zoffany Rose lines up in Race 3 over 3000m with Craig Williams booked to ride the mare after a luckless run at the same track and trip a fortnight ago. The pair will jump from barrier 8 of 13 (comes in to 7 if the emergency scratched) and will be chasing the lucrative Vobis Gold bonus of $20,000 on top of the $40,000 on offer.
'She (Zoffany) worked over 1400m at a little quicker than even time (15secs) in what was simply a maintenance gallop in preparation for Friday. She remains very fit and well and we're hopeful of another good performance' Said David Feek from the Balnarring trials this morning.
'Craig's manager chased the ride very early in the week so I am taking that as a positive sign. I can't fault her, she just holds her condition so well and she deserves to win one of these races'.
TIZSO WIKCED lines up in the final race of the night with Michael Walker to ride the mare as she comes back from Benchmark 70 grade to Benchmark 64. As a result, the daughter of Duporth will lump the top weight of 62.5kg in a highly suitable second up assignment.
'Michael has a great record on this mare and I think she can run very well from gate 1 even with the weight'. Said David Feek
'We are looking to get her over ground in time even though she has spend most of her career at the sprint trips. She is bred to get 2000m and her work since joining the stable suggests she is going to appreciate further'.
'I am hoping we can add to her already impressive CV'.
The biggest danger to both runners on Friday night may in fact be Mother Nature. With a significant rainfall event schedule to cross the state on Friday and Saturday there is some concern at whether the meeting will proceed.
As the runners continue to hit the track there are a number of horses approaching the final stages of their preparations as the edge close to commencing their summer racing campaigns. At Balnarring on a very warm late November morning Feek Racing saddled up a team of 5 with a mix of old and new hitting the track.
In Trial 1 Vicious and Our Zariah both trialled strongly with both horses having contrasting preferences to their racing. Vicious is a short course specialist whilst Our Zariah is a 2400m horse who worked to the line strongly over the 1000m. Vicious was a very soft second in the heat (by a nose) while Our Zariah finished last in what was an ideal hit out for the stayer. See below.
n Trial 2, also over 1000m, was Miamba Miss and Liberty Express. Both horses trialled nicely for second and third (respectively) with the later having another trial on the 14th of December before making her race day debut towards Christmas. Miamba Miss on the other hand will continue to slowly step up in trip with the plan to stretch out over 2000m. Watch their replay below.
To round out the day promising I am Vinnie trialled in heat 3 of the morning, the fastest of the 1000m heats on the day. This big strong son of I am Invincible sat quietly as the two leaders teared away early, before working to the line untouched for a strong finishing second in what was a really nice hit out. 'Vinnie' will go back to the trials on 14 December before making his race day debut shortly thereafter! Watch him go around in the Feek Racing silks below
