Feek Racing to head north for the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale

After almost six months of Yearling Sales across Australia and New Zealand the buying season concludes next week at the popular Gold Coast Magic Millions National Yearling Sale. The quality packed catalogue is online for those wanting to flick through the sale that has produced graduates that have gone on to win the races including the Golden Slipper, Victoria Derby, KrisFlyer International Sprint, Kelt Capital Stakes, Oakleigh Plate, Australian Oaks, Dubai Golden Shaheen, Queensland Oaks and Rosehill Guineas.

David and Coral Feek will be looking for a final addition to their 2018 Yearling purchases when they head to the Gold Coast next week for the sale - which starts on Tuesday the 5th of June. Traditionally this sale has represented excellent value for money with low priced graduates going on to win well in excess of what they were paid for.

Over the years the sale has established itself as one of the best producing and top value in the country with graduates including Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, Singapore champion Rocket Man, New Zealand based record breaker Princess Coup, Oakleigh Plate winner Woorim, star kiwi filly Costa Viva and reigning Queensland Oaks heroine Tinto. The National Yearling Sale has been the source of Group One winners around the globe for an average purchase price of around $35,000

'This sale is becoming very popular with buyers as it's now producing horses that have gone on to win Group 1 races. Previously it was perceived as a lower quality catalogue'. Said David Feek

'What you're seeing now at this sale is yearlings that are of the quality of the premier sales early in the year, whether it be on type or pedigree, however they may not have been quite ready for those higher profile sales for whatever reason that may be - illness, maturity'.

'I quite like the sale as we are getting to see Yearlings very close to turning 2 and they've had the benefit of an extra few months to grow and develop. We'll be active up there looking for another yearling or two to add to our stock'.

The National Yearling Sale has established itself as one of the best performing in the region with 528 lots, the auction will boast progeny by a record 131 individual stallions including 24 exciting first season sires.

Buyers will race for more with a National Yearling sale purchase as almost all of the catalogued lots eligible to be paid up for the $11m+ Magic Millions Race Series.

In a further boost the majority of yearlings catalogued are eligible for rich state based bonus schemes and they include:

  • BOBS Eligible: 334 lots
  • QTIS 1st Payment: 89 lots
  • Super VOBIS Nominated: 36 lots

Book One of the sale will be held on June 5 and 6 with Book Two on June 7, followed on the final day by the National Racehorse Sale.

The catalogue for the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale is now available for download via the Equineline iPad app and can also be viewed online by clicking here.
